NMG Receives Organic Certification for Vegetables and Herbs

NMG started the organic certification process last year and it has taken the efforts of many people and a lot of documentation and hard work. We received the official certification letter on January 5, 2012. Many thanks to everyone involved in making this happen. We are currently working on organic programs for two customers including veggies, herbs and strawberries. SCSI, the third party company that certifies Veriflora also certified Organic. SCS has more than two decades of experience evaluating and certifying organic production and handling practices, and was among the first certifiers to be accredited under the USDA-administered National Organic Program (NOP). The certification process is comprised of the following steps:

• Application review
• Physical inspection of the operation
• Review of documents on-site
• Audits of recordkeeping system
• Interviews with operations personnel
• Sampling and testing (as warranted)
• Exit interview with key official (verbal and written)
• Certification report
• Review of report by Certification Committee
• Certification Determination Sustainability
