November 2011 – New Reusable Grocery Bags – In the past, NMG has distributed gift cards or gas cards to employees around Thanksgiving time.  This year we are we are giving the gift of sustainability, in the form of NMG reusable grocery bags. These bags are larger than a standard grocery bag, and their strong construction holds more, enabling you to use fewer bags. The bottom insert helps to keep the bag stable and upright, less tipping over in your car. These bags are also insulated and feature a zipper top, keeping your refrigerated items cold and secured. If you think of all the trips made to different stores in any given week, think of what a difference could be made by just our group of employees. If we each eliminated only (3) plastic bags per week, that would eliminate 27,300 plastic bags in a year! Keep them in your car so they’re handy and not just for the grocery store. Grab one to pick up a few items at the drug store, pet store or book shop. Use it for a library bag, tote bag or even pack items for a trip. Once you get in the habit of using reusable bags, you’ll find  more and more ways to use them. Take one in and use it to shop instead of a cart or basket.  All NMG employees received (2) of these colorful grocery bags on Friday, November 18th.  (We will also have additional bags for sale, starting on November 18th.) $3.00 each, or 2 for $5.00. These bags would make great holiday gifts for friends and family.  You could even use them for sustainable gift wrapping, simply zip it closed and tie on a bow and/or gift tag.
